    Climate:

Cuba has a subtropical trade wind climate, meaning that it receives sufficient rain (also known as being clement weather). The Eastern-side of the island is susceptible to hurricanes and was recently (2001) devastated by just such a natural phenomenon. Moreover, due to the overall clement nature of the weather, the land is fertile and suitable for arable farming. Mean temperature on the island is a nice 77 degress Fahrenheit (25 degrees Centigrade).
