Playa Paraiso in Cuba was ranked Number 3 among the top 25 beaches in the Caribbean listed by online travel website Tripadvisor, while Varadero Beach was named to the Number 8 spot. Playa Paraiso, or Paradise Beach, offers a secluded site with powdery white sands along the turquoise Caribbean Sea. It is located at the west end of Cayo Largo, just a short distance from the hotel zone. The sea at this beach is very calm and is popular with swimmers. Visitors are offered a number of services at the beach, including beach umbrellas and lounge chairs and a snack bar. This beach is favored by naturists who tend to gather on its east side. There are no water sports on offer at Playa Paraiso, but equipment can be obtained in Playa Sirena, a walk of about 20 minutes west.
Varadero Beach is located between the Bay of Cardenas and the Straits of Florida, about 140 kilometers east of Havana. It is situated on the Hicacos Peninsula, which extends some 20 km from the mainland. In addition to the beach, the peninsula is also home to the Hicacos Point Natural Park, an ecological preserve established in 1974. The park features the 820-foot-long Cave of Ambrosia and Mango Lake with its 31 species of birds and 24 species re reptiles.
